In order for the HOA to do that, we need to amend our covenants to make larger T2 mailboxes standard, which is what the USPS now recommends. In the next few days, each home will receive a letter in the mail containing the proposed amendment and a ballot. The 2 changes in the amendment are:
- Larger mailbox with street name
- Post color defined as dark brown for consistency
Most posts throughout the neighborhood are usable and simply need to be cleaned and stained. The HOA will organize a group of volunteers to do that. In cases where posts need replacing, it will be the homeowners' responsibility and we will provide a contractor who can replace it with the correct post at a discounted rate.
Please return your ballots and if over 50% of the homes (71) vote yes, we will replace each mailbox in Charleston Crossing with no special assessment.
An example of the proposed new mailbox can be seen at 11530 Charleston Parkway.
